What is the Winter Solstice?

The winter solstice is the 1st day of winter. It is the shortest day with the longest night of the year (in the Northern Hemisphere). It has the fewest hours of sunlight. The days begin to grow longer, brighter, and warmer until the 1st day of summer and the longest day of the year arrives - the summer solstice. This is when life returns to everything in nature.

It is the return of more sunlight; of hope. Each day gets brighter and brighter as it celebrates and welcomes the positive energy coming in with the light. This is a time to gather with loved ones and to “celebrate the rebirth of, and return to, the light.” It is a time to celebrate and honor Mother Earth and her seasonal rhythms.

It is a time for setting goals for the coming year as reflecting upon the past year. It is a time of “pure potential” as everything and anything is possible!!

It is such a gift to be given the opportunity to “go deep inside & emerge as a new version of self” at the beginning of each new year.

It is similar to a spark as you watch it grow. To fully transform into the person you want to become and to be in this coming year.

There is so much hope and promise as you don’t know what will be unless you dream and able to receive  the inspiration of who you want to be and become.

This is the time for nurturing, restoring, grounding, and calming. It is not the time for action just yet. It puts too much pressure upon you.

Right now is the time for rest, deep rest. For rejuvenation. This is the time the physical realm is quiet and still, as your spirit is integrating all the wisdom you learned throughout the year. You are evolving.

You can learn so much from the animals. The bears go into long hibernations - this is  for conserving their energy for the winter, the small mammals/reptiles bury themselves underneath the snow keeping themselves warm, squirrels bury their nuts in preparation, birds fly south taking rest on a warm southern lake, and butterflies go into a cocoon.

In alignment with nature, it is a time to slow down, adapt to the winter temperatures, and huddle together for warmth.

To celebrate and honor the winter solstice, I write down my intentions (whether it is business, career, compensation, finances, love, relationships, my fur baby, or whatever my focus is for the solstice), I put on some relaxing  music or sometimes keep it quiet to hear the stillness in the air, light a candle, and then burn it in to the candle so that the energy goes into the universe. As it burns, I continue to envision what i am manifesting for my future self.

Much love and gratitude for all the happiness, joy, love, prosperity, peace, and harmony this world has to offer you. And may you walk each moment in life with ease and grace.

Happy Winter Solstice!!
